Scholarship overview

At Wooldridge Law Injury Lawyers, we are dedicated to helping victims of negligence seek the justice and compensation they deserve. As part of our commitment to this cause, we are proud to announce the Wooldridge Law Injury Lawyers Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship aims to raise awareness about the importance of personal injury law in protecting people’s rights.

Essay topic & guidelines

Applicants must submit a 1,000 word essay reflecting on the following quote from James Madison:

“Trial by jury in civil cases is as essential to secure the liberty of the people as any one of the pre-existent rights of nature.”

In your essay, explore what this quote means in the context of personal injury law and civil lawsuits. Some questions to consider:

  • Why is the right to a trial by jury in civil cases an essential liberty?
  • How do personal injury lawsuits and the civil justice system protect people’s rights and hold wrongdoers accountable?
  • Can you think of notable examples of personal injury cases that demonstrate the importance of this right?
  • How would the erosion of the right to civil jury trials impact victims of negligence?

Be creative, persuasive, and original in your analysis and writing. Winning essays will demonstrate critical thinking, strong writing skills, and a passion for justice.
