Injured in an Accident?

We’ll Deal With the Insurance Company While You Focus on Healing

You were injured in an accident, and now you’re dealing with medical bills, insurance calls, and the stress of trying to get better. The insurance company probably already reached out, sounding helpful, offering you money to settle quickly, or asking you to give them a statement.

Here’s what they won’t tell you: they’re trying to pay you as little as they can get away with. Anything you say will be used against you to reduce what they owe you or deny your claim entirely.

We’re Wooldridge Law Injury Lawyers. Our Las Vegas personal injury lawyers handle cases like yours every day. We know how Nevada law works, we know the tricks insurance companies use to lowball accident victims, and we know how to fight back.

We’ll take over all communication with insurance so they can’t pressure you or twist your words. We’ll investigate what happened, gather the evidence that proves your case, and fight to get you everything you deserve, medical bills, lost income, pain and suffering, future medical costs, all of it.

You’re trying to heal. Let us handle the legal battle.

What You Need to Know Right Now

You have 2 years to file a claim in Nevada. We’ve had people walk into our office who waited too long, thinking they still had time. Once that two-year deadline passes, there’s nothing anyone can do, no matter how bad your injuries are or how obvious the other person’s fault. Don’t let time run out on you.

Don’t give the insurance company a statement before you call us. They’ll sound friendly and act like they want to help, but their job is to get you to say things that hurt your case. We’ve seen it happen over and over. Once you give them a recorded statement, you can’t take it back.

Even if you think the accident was partly your fault, you can still get money for your injuries. A lot of people think if they made any mistake at all, they’re out of luck. That’s not true in Nevada. As long as you weren’t more than 50% at fault, you can still recover damages.

Talking to us costs you nothing. Free consultation. No money upfront. We only get paid if we win. And if you’re hurt and can’t come to our office, we’ll come to you, at home, at the hospital, wherever works for you.

Types of Injury Cases We Help With in Las Vegas

If someone else’s carelessness or recklessness caused your injury, you may have a valid claim. We handle all types of injury cases throughout Las Vegas and Southern Nevada, from car crashes on the I-15 to slip and falls on the Strip. If you got hurt because someone else wasn’t being careful, we can help.

Back Injuries

Back and spine injuries from accidents can be life-changing. Whether it’s a herniated disc, spinal cord damage, or chronic pain, these injuries often require extensive treatment and can prevent you from working. We fight to get you compensation for medical bills, lost income, and long-term care.

Burn Injuries

Burn injuries from fires, explosions, chemical exposure, or electrical accidents cause severe pain and often permanent scarring. Treatment is expensive and can include multiple surgeries and skin grafts. We help burn victims recover damages for medical costs, disfigurement, emotional trauma, and lost wages.

Dog Bites

Dog attacks can cause serious injuries, especially to children. Nevada law holds dog owners responsible when their animal bites someone. We help dog bite victims get compensation for medical treatment, reconstructive surgery, scarring, emotional distress, and lost income while recovering.

Brain Injuries

Traumatic brain injuries from car accidents, falls, or workplace incidents can affect your memory, personality, and ability to work. Even “mild” concussions can have lasting effects. We work with medical experts to document brain injuries and pursue full compensation for your treatment and losses.

Wrongful Death

When negligence takes the life of someone you love, no amount of money brings them back. But Nevada law allows families to seek compensation for funeral costs, lost financial support, and loss of companionship. We help families pursue justice and hold negligent parties accountable.

Catastrophic Injuries

Severe injuries like paralysis, amputations, severe burns, or permanent disability change your life forever. These cases require substantial compensation for lifetime medical care, home modifications, lost earning capacity, and pain and suffering. We fight for the maximum recovery you deserve.

Not sure if your injury qualifies for a claim? Call us. We’ll listen to what happened, explain whether you have a case, and tell you honestly what we think. The consultation is free, and there’s no pressure.

Can I Get Extra Damages on Top of My Medical Bills?

In most injury cases in Las Vegas, you can get compensated for your actual losses like medical bills, lost income, and pain and suffering. But in certain situations, Nevada law lets you go after punitive damages on top of that.

Punitive damages aren’t about covering your bills. They’re about punishing the person or company that hurt you and making sure they don’t do it again. Think of it as the legal system saying, “What you did was so reckless or deliberate that you’re going to pay more than just the victim’s expenses.”

Nevada’s punitive damages law is in NRS 42.001, and it’s very specific about when you can get these extra damages. Not every case qualifies. You can’t get punitive damages just because someone made a mistake or wasn’t paying attention. The law requires something more: conduct that shows complete disregard for people’s safety, intentional harm, or a company putting profits over safety.

Whether your case qualifies for punitive damages can make a huge difference in how much money you recover. That’s why talking to a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer who knows Nevada law matters.

What Makes a Strong Personal Injury Case in Las Vegas?

Not all injury cases are the same. Some settle quickly for good money, while others drag on for months or end with lowball offers that don’t come close to covering your losses. The difference usually comes down to four things that need to be handled right.

Understanding what makes a case strong helps you see why having an experienced lawyer matters, and what we focus on when we’re building your case in Las Vegas.

Proving It Was Their Fault, Not Yours

To win a personal injury case in Nevada, you must prove that someone else’s negligence caused your injuries. This means showing four elements: the other party owed you a duty of care, they breached that duty, their breach directly caused your injuries, and you suffered actual damages as a result.

Proving negligence requires solid evidence. We gather medical records that link your injuries directly to the accident, witness statements, police reports, photos of the accident scene, and sometimes expert testimony from accident reconstruction specialists. In a slip and fall case at a Las Vegas casino, for example, we’d need to prove the property owner knew about the dangerous condition—or should have known about it—and failed to fix it or warn guests.

Insurance companies will look for any reason to deny negligence. They’ll argue you were distracted, that your injuries existed before the accident, or that the incident couldn’t have been prevented. That’s why building a strong evidentiary case early matters—before witnesses forget details and evidence disappears.

Figuring Out What Your Case Is Worth

One of the biggest mistakes injury victims make is accepting a settlement before they understand what their case is actually worth. Insurance companies count on this, often making offers within days of an accident, hoping you’ll take the money before you realize your injuries are more serious than you initially thought.

Your claim’s value should include current medical bills, future medical treatment, lost wages (both past and future), pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, and in certain cases under Nevada law, punitive damages. If you’ve been permanently injured or disabled, the future costs can be substantial. If you accept $40,000 to cover immediate bills but later need $100,000 in ongoing treatment, you can’t go back and ask for more—that settlement is final.

We work with medical experts to understand the full scope of your injuries and what treatment you’ll need going forward. We calculate lost earning capacity if you can’t return to your previous job. This is especially important in Nevada, where many injury victims work in the service industry and can’t afford extended time off work.

Dealing With Insurance Adjusters

Insurance companies in Nevada employ professional adjusters trained to minimize payouts. They use proven tactics: calling for recorded statements, requesting extensive medical records to find pre-existing conditions, offering quick lowball settlements, and using Nevada’s comparative negligence law to shift blame onto you.

When we represent you, we handle all communication with insurance companies. This prevents you from accidentally saying something that damages your claim. We know what similar cases have settled for or resulted in at trial in Nevada courts, so we can recognize when an offer is unreasonably low. Insurance companies often increase their offers significantly once they know you have experienced legal representation—because they know we’re prepared to take the case to trial if they won’t negotiate fairly.

Settlement vs. Going to Court: What to Expect

Most personal injury cases settle before going to court, and that’s often the right outcome. You get compensated faster, avoid the uncertainty of a jury, and can move on with your life. But sometimes the insurance company won’t make a fair offer, and trial becomes the better option.

The decision isn’t one-size-fits-all. It depends on how strong your evidence is, how serious your injuries are, and whether the insurance company is actually trying to be fair. In some cases—like DUI accidents or when an insurance company acts in bad faith—Nevada law allows punitive damages with no cap, which can make trial worth pursuing.

We prepare every case like it’s going to trial, even if we expect it to settle. When insurance companies see we’re ready to go to court with solid evidence and expert witnesses, they usually get more serious about fair settlement negotiations. If they don’t, we’re ready to take your case in front of a jury.

ABOUT WOOLDRIDGE LAW INJURY LAWYERS

We’re a Las Vegas personal injury law firm that handles one thing: helping injured people get fair compensation. We were born and raised in Nevada, so we know this community, we know the local courts, and we understand how insurance companies operate here.

Here’s how we work: Your consultation is free. If you’re hurt and can’t make it to our office, we’ll come to you at home, at the hospital, or wherever works best. We handle everything with the insurance company so you don’t have to deal with their calls and paperwork. We work on a contingency fee basis, which means you don’t pay us anything upfront. We only get paid if we win your case.

Most cases settle outside of court, and we’re good at negotiating fair settlements when insurance companies are willing to be reasonable. But when they’re not, we go to trial. We’re proven trial lawyers who aren’t afraid to take your case in front of a jury if that’s what it takes to get you what you deserve.

We serve clients throughout Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, and all of Southern Nevada. Our clients have given us a 99.9% satisfaction rating because we prioritize communication, transparency, and results. We treat every case like it matters, because to you, it does.

NEVADA’S 2-YEAR STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS

Nevada law gives you exactly two years from the date of your injury to file a personal injury claim. Miss that deadline, and you lose your right to compensation forever—no matter how strong your case is. We’ve seen people with clear evidence of negligence and serious injuries lose everything simply because they waited too long.

At Wooldridge Law Injury Lawyers, we’ve helped clients who came to us with just weeks left before their deadline expired. We understand the urgency of Nevada’s statute of limitations and act quickly to protect your rights. Whether you were injured last week or last year, don’t wait until it’s too late to get the compensation you deserve.

What Damages Can I Seek in a Las Vegas Personal Injury Claim?

When someone else’s carelessness causes your injury, Nevada law says you’re entitled to full compensation for all your losses, not just your medical bills. Understanding what you can get helps you recognize when an insurance company’s offer is way too low.

Economic Damages

Economic damages cover your actual financial losses: the bills and expenses you can prove with receipts, pay stubs, and invoices.

Medical Expenses include everything from the ambulance ride and emergency room visit to surgery, hospital stays, medications, physical therapy, and medical equipment. It also covers future medical treatment if your injuries need ongoing care. If you’ll need more surgeries, long-term therapy, or assistive devices down the road, those costs are part of your claim.

Lost Wages and Lost Earning Capacity compensate you for income you’ve already lost because of your injuries, plus future income if you can’t go back to your old job or work the same hours. This is especially important for Las Vegas service industry workers who depend on tips and can’t afford to miss work. If your injuries permanently affect your ability to earn a living, that lost future income gets calculated and included.

Property Damage covers repair or replacement of damaged property. Usually that’s your vehicle in car accident cases, but also personal items damaged in the accident like phones, laptops, clothing, or other belongings.

Other Out-of-Pocket Costs include transportation to medical appointments, home modifications if you’re disabled, hiring help for tasks you can’t do anymore, and any other expenses directly caused by your injury.

Non-Economic Damages

Non-economic damages compensate you for losses that don’t come with a receipt: the ways your injury has affected your quality of life.

Pain and Suffering covers the physical pain you’ve gone through and will continue to experience. This includes not just immediate pain from the injury, but chronic pain, discomfort during recovery, and any permanent pain you’ll live with.

Emotional Distress addresses the psychological impact of your injury: anxiety, depression, PTSD, fear, trouble sleeping, and the mental toll of dealing with a serious injury and recovery process.

Loss of Enjoyment of Life compensates you when injuries stop you from doing activities you used to enjoy. If you can no longer play with your kids, do your hobbies, exercise, travel, or do things that made you happy, that’s a real loss.

Loss of Consortium allows your spouse to recover damages for the loss of companionship, affection, and intimacy caused by your injuries.

Punitive Damages (In Specific Circumstances)

As we explained earlier, Nevada law (NRS 42.001) allows punitive damages in certain cases where the person or company’s conduct was especially reckless or intentional. These aren’t meant to compensate you for losses. They’re meant to punish the wrongdoer and make sure they don’t do it again.

Punitive damages apply in cases involving DUI accidents, insurance bad faith, defective products, toxic waste exposure, housing discrimination, and defamation. In some of these situations, Nevada law puts no cap on punitive damages, letting juries award whatever amount is necessary to hold large corporations or insurance companies accountable.

If your case involves any of these circumstances, punitive damages could significantly increase your total recovery beyond your economic and non-economic damages.

What Do I Do After Getting Injured in an Accident?

The actions you take immediately after an accident can make or break your personal injury claim. Insurance companies are looking for reasons to deny or minimize your claim, and even innocent mistakes can be used against you later.

DO THESE 6 THINGS IMMEDIATELY

1. Get medical help right away, even if you feel okay. Some serious injuries don’t show up immediately. If you wait to see a doctor, insurance companies will claim your injuries weren’t that bad or didn’t come from the accident. Go to the emergency room or see a doctor within 24 hours.

2. Document everything at the scene. Take photos of the accident scene, your injuries, property damage, road conditions, and anything else that matters. Get names and phone numbers from witnesses. Write down what happened while it’s still fresh in your mind. Evidence disappears fast.

3. Keep every medical record, bill, and receipt. Save every piece of paper related to your injury: hospital bills, prescription receipts, physical therapy invoices, medical records, even parking receipts from doctor appointments. You’ll need all of this to prove what the accident cost you.

4. Report the accident to the right people. Call the police for car accidents. Tell your employer about workplace injuries. Let property owners know about slip and falls. Having an official report on file creates proof of what happened.

5. Don’t fix or throw away damaged property yet. Take photos of your damaged car, torn clothes, broken phone, or anything else that got damaged before you repair or replace it. Insurance companies might want to see the damage themselves.

6. Call a Las Vegas personal injury lawyer before talking to insurance. Don’t give statements or sign anything until you’ve talked to an attorney. Insurance companies often call victims within hours, trying to get statements or settlements before you know what your rights are.

DON’T Make These 6 Common Mistakes

1. Don’t give the insurance company a recorded statement. They’ll ask questions designed to get you to downplay your injuries or admit you were partly at fault. Politely tell them no and that they need to talk to your lawyer. Once they record you, you can’t take it back.

2. Don’t accept their first offer. Insurance companies usually make lowball offers within days of the accident, hoping you’ll take the money before you know how bad your injuries really are. Most first offers are way below what your case is actually worth.

3. Don’t post anything about the accident on social media. Insurance companies check your Facebook, Instagram, and other accounts looking for anything they can use against you. A photo of you smiling at dinner can be twisted to claim you’re not really hurt, even if you’re in pain. Make your profiles private and don’t post about the accident or your injuries at all.

4. Don’t sign anything without having a lawyer look at it first. Insurance companies might send you forms claiming they’re just “routine paperwork.” They could be medical release forms giving them access to your entire medical history, or settlement agreements that end your claim forever. Have an attorney review everything before you sign.

5. Don’t miss doctor appointments or quit treatment early. Stick to your doctor’s treatment plan. If you skip appointments or stop going, insurance companies will say you weren’t really hurt or that you’re already better. Keep going to treatment until your doctor clears you.

6. Don’t wait to call a lawyer. Nevada gives you 2 years to file a lawsuit, but waiting even a few months can hurt your case. Evidence disappears, witnesses forget what they saw, and injuries heal in ways that make them harder to prove. Call a Las Vegas personal injury attorney as soon as you can after your accident.

Frequently Asked Questions for Las Vegas Personal Injury Attorneys

How much do Las Vegas personal injury attorneys charge?

Most personal injury attorneys in Las Vegas work on a contingency fee basis, which means you don’t pay anything upfront. We only get paid if we win your case, and our fee comes out of your settlement or verdict. Typically, personal injury lawyers take between 33% and 40% of your recovery, depending on whether the case settles or goes to trial. You’ll never owe us money out of pocket, and if we don’t win, you don’t pay us anything.

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Nevada?

Nevada law gives you 2 years from the date of your injury to file a personal injury lawsuit. This is called the statute of limitations, and it’s a hard deadline. If you miss it, you lose your right to compensation entirely, no matter how strong your case is. That’s why it’s important to talk to Las Vegas personal injury attorneys as soon as possible after your accident. The sooner we start working on your case, the better we can preserve evidence and protect your rights.

What if I was partially at fault for the accident?

You can still recover damages in Nevada even if you were partially at fault, as long as you weren’t more than 50% responsible for the accident. Nevada follows a “modified comparative negligence” rule. This means if you were 20% at fault, your damages would be reduced by 20%. For example, if your case is worth $100,000 and you were 20% at fault, you’d recover $80,000. Experienced personal injury attorneys in Las Vegas know how to counter insurance companies that try to unfairly inflate your percentage of fault to reduce what they pay.

How long does a personal injury case take in Las Vegas?

Every case is different. Some settle in a few months, while others take a year or more, especially if they go to trial. The timeline depends on factors like how long your medical treatment takes, how complex the case is, and whether the insurance company negotiates fairly. Your Las Vegas personal injury attorneys will keep you updated throughout the process. While we work to resolve your case as quickly as possible, we won’t rush you into accepting less than you deserve just to close the case faster.

Should I accept the insurance company's settlement offer?

Almost never accept the first offer without talking to a lawyer first. Insurance companies typically make lowball initial offers hoping you’ll take the money before you understand what your case is really worth. They count on you not knowing Nevada law or how much compensation you’re entitled to. Personal injury attorneys in Las Vegas know how to properly value your claim, including future medical costs and lost income that you might not have considered. Once you accept a settlement and sign a release, you can’t go back and ask for more money later, even if your injuries turn out to be worse than you thought.
