What is the statute of limitations for a car accident in Nevada?
Two years from the date of the crash for injury claims, and three years for property damage alone. Both come from NRS 11.190. A wrongful death claim also runs two years, measured from the date of death rather than the date of the crash.
Injury and property damage are separate
They carry different periods, which surprises people whose vehicle claim settled quickly. Resolving the car does nothing to preserve the claim for the body.
Filing is what stops the clock
Not a demand letter, not an open claim number, and not an ongoing negotiation. Only filing suit within the period preserves the claim.

- Shorter: a claim involving a city, county or state body carries its own filing step inside that window.
- Different: wrongful death runs from the date of death, not the date of the incident.
- Longer, sometimes: injuries to children, and harm that could not reasonably have been discovered at the time.
